The 5 most awaited games in 2017

The year 2017 looks like a great year for gamers with this great lineup of new sequels to beloved games.

We’re down to the last quarter of 2016, just a few months away before the year ends. For gamers, this also means one thing – new games. Game publishers always make it a point to release games during the holiday season and if they don’t make it, they push it back to a later release so expect a lot of games to be released early next year.

So, what do gamers look forward to in 2017?

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Even after 30 years, the Legend of Zelda series continues to capture the minds and hearts of gamers young and new. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is what every Zelda fan hopes it to be – bigger, better, and bolder. This is the biggest game Nintendo has ever made yet and also their most ambitious. Its open world environment is 12 times larger than its predecessor, Twilight Princess. Breath of the Wild won Best Console Game for Nintendo WiiU at the Gamescom award after its pre-release at E3 2016.

Join Link as he embarks on an open-world adventure in the ruined kingdom of Hyrule after a deep slumber. He must find the entity responsible for the ruination of Hyrule and defeat it before it utterly destroys the land once more. Players can now move Link through an expanded three dimensional space, which means Link can now jump an climb to any surface. Players can also find weapons, shields, clothing, and food used to restore health. The game is more realistic with the way the player can interact with environments and objects, giving found items with various ways to use them.

With the expanded environment and slightly more complex interaction with the world, fighting enemies requires more strategy as well. This makes the game more exciting and adds a ton of replay value.

The fight to become the winner of the King of the Iron Fist Tournament is far from over and Tekken 7 is here to prove it. While Tekken 7 has been in Japanese arcades since 2015, it’s now moving over to Western consoles like the PS4, PC, and Xbox One.

The new installment of this popular fighting game is bringing back its veterans, with a few additional characters. The most exciting part is it gives us a look at Kazuya Mishima’s parentage, as his mother, Kazumi Mishima makes an appearance. You can expect better 3D graphics, new fight moves and combos, and tournament backdrops.

It’s been a long wait, but the action role-playing third-person shooter Mass Effect: Andromeda is finally hitting the stores next year. BioWare is giving gamers a new look at space exploration, as Andromeda takes place 300 years after the events of the Mass Effect trilogy.

The gameplay for Andromeda differs from its predecessors as players will be exploring an open-world environment this time. Players can choose to play as a male or female character, with a new spaceship that they can command, the Tempest. If you’re a fan of the old trilogy, this game brings a lot of nostalgia to the package while bringing a lot of exciting new elements to the experience. There’s a lot of different planets to explore while still keeping classic game features such as a dialogue tree and creating romantic relationships with companions.

There’s going to be a big shift in the Persona universe, as Persona 5 comes out in February 2017. Technically the sixth installment to the popular role-playing game, Persona 5 follows the story of high school students in Tokyo who awaken their “Persona” powers, powerful manifestations of their psyche, to battle dark forces. The students become masked vigilantes called “Phantom Thieves of Hearts” and explore a supernatural realm called “Palace” to steal ill intent from adults’ hearts. The game features classic role-playing gameplay and exploration with elements of social simulation.

The theme of the game focuses on battling slavery whether it’s slavery to authority, society, etc. The mood and tone of Persona 5 is broody and very different from Persona 3 and 4, making it a more emotional experience for the player. The game sports top notch drama and a compelling narrative and gameplay that’s sure to steal your heart.

Fans of the Resident Evil franchise will surely find the new installment as exciting as its predecessors, perhaps even more. For the first time in the series, Resident Evil VII: Biohazard will be played from a first-person perspective. As Capcom explains, Resident Evil: Biohazard will not be a complete gun fest to focus on its survival horror element, but the protagonist will still have as much firepower as they did in the game’s precedecessors.

The game takes place after Resident Evil 6 and follows the story of Ethan, a man in search for his missing wife. While the game will have connections to the previous installments, the game will feature a new cast of characters. Developers also say that the title of the game itself is a clue to what the plot is all about.

There’s a lot more to expect in 2017, so be on the look out for games you’re most excited about. Are there any other games you’re excited about for 2017? Let us know in the comments!
