These are the cleanest places in Dubai

Dubai’s local government is currently undertaking initiatives to make Dubai one of the cleanest cities in the world by 2050. It’s no wonder then that Dubai, a city that aims to become as sustainable as it can be, is also one of the most progressive cities in the world. Just this year, Dubai was hailed as the most sustainable city in the Middle East.

While 2050 is still a long way from now, efforts to keep the city clean have started long before. In fact, there are areas in the metropolis that have taken steps to maintain its reputation of being the cleanest, like the Arabian Ranches, Dubai Marina, and Mirdif.

What makes them the cleanest areas in the city?

What makes these areas any different from other locations in Dubai? According to research conducted by Virtual Info Systems, the organizers of the Middle East Technology Week, these areas (Arabian Ranches, Dubai Marina, and Mirdif) have the highest rate of hiring cleaning services. Their research also revealed that residents in these areas have their homes cleaned at least three times a week. Homeowners spend around 20,000 AED to 40,000 AED for home cleaning services every year, and the costs of professional cleaning depend on the size of the home.

Breaking down the survey they conducted for the study, it will show that the top three demographics that require professional cleaning in the city are (1) Western expats, (2) Arabs, and (3) Asians.

Professionals cleaners are not only limited to homes. Offices also hire them to ensure their commercial properties are clean and presentable. Apart from cleaning, professional cleaners also provide water treatment and drainage system management.

Why do they keep their homes clean that much?

For health reasons, obviously. With Dubai being a desert city, plus its high humidity levels and frequent sandstorms, Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) is one of the main concerns of homeowners. Low IEQ contributes to the risks of allergies, sinusitis, and other health-related problems among residents. To ensure their homes do not become a host to these health problems, residents are always eager to call professional cleaning services or hire their own house help to clean their properties.

Another reason why homeowners call cleaning services is to get rid of pests. Pests start to become more active in the summer, further aggravating the heat that residents experience. Villas with gardens are the ones that usually require frequent professional cleaning to get rid of ants and other pests. Meanwhile, homes require pest control for bedbug and cockroach infestation.

Dubai may still have a long way to go, but the city isn’t running far behind other top cities in the world when it comes to sustainability and cleanliness. This will continue if others follow the examples set by the residents in areas with the cleanest homes.
