The entire UAE should watch out for the return of this mobile phone brand

Don’t you just love it when something that you thought was long-time dead is making a comeback with not just one but three new smartphones?

In 2016, the biggest smartphone makers dominated the UAE market with Apple and Samsung in the lead. However, about a decade ago, Nokia was the king of mobiles and rightfully so, as it revolutionized the mobile phone industry with its handy and stylish phones. By the time that Apple Inc. had released the first generation iPhone in 2007 and changed all the rules, Nokia’s popularity had waned, and was already trailing BlackBerry who was the mobile phone powerhouse in the mid-2000s. In 2011, alarm bells started to go off as Nokia’s Symbian OS failed to keep users interested, and in 2012, its share priced dropped to an all-time low of $3.

We thought we heard the last of Nokia, but in January 2017, the company now owned by HMD Global, released the Nokia 6 exclusively in China. This new Android-powered Nokia phone sold all available units in–get this–ONE MINUTE. What a comeback!

Earlier reports said that Nokia was supposed to launch their latest products last December, but since that didn’t happen, everyone’s expecting a launch at the MWC 2017 in Barcelona.

After Nokia 6, Nokia D1C and Nokia P1 will take the stage. The Nokia D1C will enter the realm of mid-range smartphones, while the Nokia P1 will battle head to head with other flagships.

Hopefully this switch to Android would help bring back some of Nokia’s sparkle, and introduce the brand to a whole new generation of mobile phone users.
