Here Are The Best Action Cameras You Need This Summer

We’re counting down to the last few days before the official start of the summer season. Have you packed your traveling bags yet? Make sure that every activity in your itinerary is well-documented so you have something to look back to once the gloomy days of winter roll in. Here’s a list of the best action cameras on the market that can capture every detail of your upcoming adventures.

GoPro Hero5 Black

The whole GoPro lineup is perhaps the most popular in the action camera category, and for good reason: the brand’s products certainly live up to the cost and the hype. The Hero5 Black is no exception. This shooter is equipped with a 2-inch touchscreen and is waterproof for up to 10 meters. Moreover, it is capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps.

Perfect for individuals who are tight on the budget, the PixPro SP1 is one nifty device that does not scrimp on performance despite its affordable price tag. Like the GoPro Hero5 Black, this shooter can withstand submersion of up to 10 meters. It comes with a dedicated lens for underwater shooting and has WiFi connectivity–perfect for those who want to upload their captured photos in a jiffy.

YI 4K+

YI definitely upped their game with the 4K+. Dubbed as the world’s first 4K/60fps camera, this model is also equipped with image stabilization, which means you can say bye to shaky shots. Another bonus is the RAW shooting feature. Unfortunately, you’d need to purchase the waterproof case if you plan on taking this with you underwater.

 TomTom Bandit

Don’t let the Bandit’s unusual shape fool you–this bullet action camera comes with GPS, a heart rate and motion sensor, and slow motion shooting capabilities. It can shoot 16-megapixel stills, and although the model itself is not waterproof, purchasing the optional Dive lens cover will make it waterproof for up to 40 meters. Still not impressed? The Bandit is compatible with all GoPro mounts, which makes it the perfect substitute for the trusted (and pricier) action camera.

Garmin Virb XE

Garmin is one of the leading names in GPS technology. Now it seems that it’s aiming to be the biggest name in action cameras as well. The Virb XE is a completely upgraded version of the Virb Elite and can withstand even the harshest conditions–50 meters underwater and temperatures as low as 20 degrees Celsius. It is capable of capturing speed and location information, thanks to its powerful Garmin sensors. The Virb XE also has WiFi, Bluetooth, and ANT+ connectivity, the latter being a wireless protocol used to gather data from health and fitness monitoring devices.
